Well I'll be honest, I find Beetwig's line to be a tough act to follow. Plus, I'm going with the Tokusatsu theme since I find it a more original theme.

I dig the beetle, and it'd be my pick for sure, despite Grass/Bug not being a very good typing. I also think the iguana is more better than the sheep.
Not sure if either of the fire starters stand out to me personally, though Electric feels like an odd secondary type for the Fire starter.

Change the typings OP you know you had it right the first time. Imagine slogging through the whole game with a Pokémon 4x weak to Flying, Fire with a myriad of other weaknesses and not even have it pay off in the final evo.

Plant mecha is cool, but holy fuck OP. Double quadruple weakness is not fucking fun to play with on a starter, literally even my mas parrot could blow it the fuck out.
Either change the typing, or mitigate that weakness with an ability i.e.
>Sap Armor
>Blocks a SE fire attack (once), raises def/s.def one stage
or something similar for flying. That's just a band-aid though, and you'd need to think up a broken second (hidden) ability so players don't just reset when they don't get the normal one. Generally gameplay shouldn't dictate what designs you can have, but you really shouldn't forget about the player's experience.
I'd still take the Beetwig cause it looks the coolest, but dang man. Don't torture me for wanting a cool pokemon.

Firefox looks gay, the Tohi lizard on the other hand looks ok, if basic.
Kaiju water krok is cool in my book, but I'd make the middle part longer to give it a more serpentine look I guess.

Having a hidden ability wouldn't help that much for an in-game playthrough though. If anything it'd need some weird signature move to try and help with it, like a priority move that changes its own type.

Piority moves +1 are 40 across the board offensive wise, and +2 80 across the board. But no offensive signature move would help, because an 80 power + stab grass or bug move would still not help against flying or fire types due to their resistance.
And waste an entire turn on a defensive move that changes just your type to not get one-shot? You wouldn't realistically use this in wild or regular trainer battles against your weaknesses anyway because it's a hassle.

If it were a 'HENTAI - TETSU CHARGE' move that has priority, changes the bug or grass typing to steel and hit for 60/80 + stab, then maybe. But that just sounds outright broken and hard to program if you ask me.

There are non-damaging priority moves.. Even something that's just Protect stapled to Camouflage would probably do the trick, albeit not in a very exciting way.
