PLA is an antidote to being a pokefucker.
Humans and Pokémon exist—and you can interact with them—on the same plane. They occupy the same 3D environment, and in-universe they interact with each other, and with your avatar, in various ways.
This allows you to compare them—and your interactions with them—directly.
Your Pokémon are your trusted and loyal companions, guards, pets, friends—but one-dimensional in that way. Dear and treasured, but for what they are.
The human characters interact with you in various ways, and in so doing, and in what you learn about them from other characters, evoke a more varied interest in them, and emotions towards them on your part: sympathy, suspicion, affection, pity, urge to rape-correct, longing. This also enlivens the imagination, lets you think about ways in which you could or would want to interact with them.
When you thus put them side by side, you can see how preferring the intimacy and bodies of your Pokémon over those of the Pokégirls would be gravely disordered, and as someone in that universe, you'd find the thought strange and repulsive too.
