What's up with every gen after 2 watering down the colors more and more? This is a kid's series, right? Wouldn't kids prefer really bright colors instead of every pokemon looking like they got left out in the sun for 10 years? What's the reasoning?

OK. Wait do you mean to sprites in general? or back to gen 2 sprites because they're beautiful?

either way, here is a spritesheet someone made of gen 3 in gen 2 color. I have a couple more like this and it really brings some mons to life.

it's mostly lazy recolors and shrink-downs with no sense of scale (Kyogre looks small as shit)

In terms of sprites:

Gen 2 > Gen 1 > Gen 4 > Gen 3 > Gen 5

Gen 5 sprites look like shit and I will die on that hill. They took the worst sprites between DP/Pt/HGSS and gave them shitty animations that hurt to look at. Only the Hoenn/Unova Pokémon look good in Gen 5 because they're the only ones who got brand new sprites specifically for the Gen 5 engine.

Nigger come on, putting gen 1 sprites ahead of anything is just pathetic. Theres like 3 decent sprites and then the rest all look like dogshit, esepcially the backsprites which are just straight up not even the pokemon most the time. Get real, faggot.

some of these designs just don't work in the gen 2 style. they're too finely detailed or complex and just end up looking like a bitcrushed mess.

the starters, roserade, dusknoir, girarina etc.

some do look surprisingly great though, like luxray and bronzong

3 was the last i liked the look of. i hate how they put less highlights on the art and how static the poses have gotten. color palettes are also worse. less dithering with time too. ugly artstyle as well. eevee just didnt look cute anymore.
