>>52872125Unfortunately, they’re tied to Gen 4’s painfully slow engine, and Crystal’s pokemon sprites are brimming with character that HGSS can’t compete with. HGSS also doesn’t necessarily benefit from enhanced graphics even if it looks pretty good, overall; it doesn’t capture the same feeling as the original games. Same could be said for the soundtrack; some tracks were done slightly better than the original while others were massacred.
HGSS are good games, but they will never be sufficient replacements for GSC. It’s worth noting that the lack of badge boosts and the inclusion of the stat splits (without any notable rework of Johto/Kanto pokemon’s stats/movepools) actually makes the level curve in HGSS a much more noticeable problem than it was in the originals.
