The real anomaly is male-only mons. They could feasibly only be mating with Ditto.

They should have made it so that if you breed a 100% male with a female, the male genes override and the resulting baby is male.
This would explain the existence of 100% male Pokémon. Otherwise they make anatomically zero sense.

Really, quite a few of them should probably have that when there are clear counterparts, like Braviary and Mandibuzz, or Grimmsnarl and Hatterene.
The real outliers are things like the Hitmons or Sawk/Throh, which don't even have any sort of female counterpart to feasibly work with.

Females will always get their species so there is no need for anything to happen.
Only 10:0 male gender ratios should be able to determine species because the female will always do so. Species with 100% female cannot go extinct.

Why would they need Ditto? The mother determines the species so they can reproduce with any compatible male

What if the breeder prefers the look and abilities of the mon who is 100% female, but has to breed it with a 100% male to get the egg moves, and that 100% male is the only mon it can get that egg move?
That will cause a lot of breeding problems.
