Just like how Attack affects confusion damage and foul play, so it is recommended to give special attackers 0 attack IVs... Does Special Attack carry any side-effect for physical attackers?

Nope. There's no status conditions that inflict self-damage based on SpA or use the enemy's SpA stat.

Nope, absolutely no detriment in maxing SpA on every Pokemon in the game outside of Power Split, and no one outside of youtubers farming for clickbait content are going to use that move.

Reducing Atk on your Special Attackers is important to mitigate self-confusion damage, but also has the far more relevant benefit of reducing Foul Play damage.

No, that's why Flatter is a +1buff rather than Swagger giving +2buff, it would be way more obnoxious to give a Nasty Plot with almost zero downside(s).

The only thing I can think of that would come into play is Power Split shenanigans but even then that's reaching pretty fucking hard.
