Have you ever wanted to/felt like you should like a Pokémon but something just doesn’t click about it? Everything about pic related on paper is up my alley but the execution just feels awkward to me. I don’t get the dopamine rush I’d expect to looking at it. Always so disappointing because I really want to like it .

This one. I love duskull to bits but his Evo is....off. Maybe it's the feet? Dusknoir is a slight improvement, but charm was already made with the first stage

I agree with you there. I used one in my Scarlet run and I think it's the lack of movement. It's supposed to be slow and careful since it's pretending to be seaweed but it comes across very boring.

Yeah it's a bummer they basically discard the skull motif entirely in favor of a mummy cyclops theme

I have the opposite of this with Mr. Rime. It looks like it has "everything I hate" in a design, but it's one of my favorites. However, you couldn't pay me to tell you why because I have no idea. I just think it's neat.

I have this with most of the 4th gen cross evolutions, despite liking all of their pre-evolutions. It’s a weird mix of feeling like some of them were phoned-in, attempting to appeal to cool-factor while missing the mark and/or feeling disconnected from the pre-evolutions, while others have shit tacked on for no apparent reason, like Ambipom having a nose, different eyes, different shaped tail hands with colored tips, and a bowl cut when it could have easily stayed closer to Aipom. I can certainly understand why some of them are popular, especially with younger fans, but they have never felt quite right to me. Even weirder is that I’m actually a pretty big fan of the newer cross evolutions from PLA and SV.

I think it might be the noodle arms? Like, the way that they're kind of just limp noodles on Kommo-o makes little sense considering the evolutionary stage and makes it look underwhelming. It was kind of understandable for Hakamo-o because awkward teenager, but Kommo-o not being muscly not only makes it blend in with its prevo more but generally makes its design a bit less powerful.
also Hakamo-o was kind of a jarring shift from Jangmo-o that I don't like as much as it, so maybe it soured me on the line as a whole and I just haven't noticed?
Dunno, but it's always bummed me out that I can't unequivocally love this thing like I do some others
