If you do a sandwich together, everyone has to throw in at least one ingredient and one seasoning (though it really doesn't matter too much) then everyone makes it together on a mega sandwich. Everyone shares the same boosts for that sandwich, and making an individual sandwich on your own will only give yourself the boosts.
Usual strat is one player puts in herbs, everyone hunts and then that player resets if they didn't get what they want so nobody has to use up any.

OK hunting shiny Scyther is easy as fuck, flying bread in the bambo forest and 3 shinies so far in 20 mins. With outbreak (if it can spawn there) should be piece of wiener to get birthday mark for it in june.

Shiny Bellibolt ball, what are we thinking lads? I wanna say maybe Repeat, Fast or Level. Hard to really say anything is perfect. Repeat kinda suggests the stomach orb but not really any matching colors. Fast is kinda orangey maybe? Level has the arrows.

I'm a complete noob to shiny hunting, but I've had moderate success following a sandwich making picture guide I saw online. But I've seen multiple of these guides and I'm not sure which is the best one for shiny hunting wild pokemon. Anybody here have the flowchart with the "best" method or are all the guides out there about the same? Picrel is the guide I've been using but I've seen others like it.

I've found this guide to be the most reliable as it tells you how to use the least ingredients necessary (pretty much just one serving of a thing before the usual 2 herbas) and clues you in on extra effects you'd want.
And additionally you can combine it with this simulator for extra measure if you want to be extra safe and make sure you do it right so you don't waste anything beforehand.

You don't need any of the extra stuff before the typing ingredient, and you only just need one serving of the typing ingredient and then the 2 herbas. It's kind of funny how simple sparkling sandwiches are but everyone was making overly complex recipes before figuring out the most efficient one.

That's only the case for two Salty (Salty + one other in some exceptions) ones

You can reset the entire area by picnic in a couple seconds.

Well this might be me but I've found virtually no real difference between no encounter 3 and encounter 3, I think it might be fucky on out breaks the 3 times I tested it.

Nonetheless, like that anon said the recipe for encounter is right there.

>no outbreak available for that pokemon at the time (it's often just as fast, if not faster to pop a sandwich and get a mon with nothing else of the same type to compete with than it is to sit there resetting for an outbreak)

Just wanted to post a fail I had last night.

The Lycanroc spawns at the edge of the Field of view area where Pokemon can spawn. The shiny then proceeds to step forward out of the FoV and despawns.
It kinda sucked especially since I lacked a shiny charm too so it was a full odds shiny.

Whenever I encounter a shiny in Scarlet or Violet, I Google "Pokémon Name sv", e.g. "Riolu sv".

"sv" is a quick way to get Serebii's entry for that Pokémon in Scarlet/Violet loaded, and then check the wild Pokémon's learnset for its current level, as well as abilities that may be a factor.
E.g. I can't spore an insomniac Murkrow.
Specifying "sv" is to avoid getting entries for other games like SwSh, or other sites like Bulbapedia. It's specific to the game I'm playing.

Finally found the slowbro but now I'm at a crossroads, not sure what ball to use.
It's color on gen 9 is a bit different than I expected, this is just a google image but it's a bit more pastel looking than gen 8.

Toxel. I typically try to get 60 KO's in the outbreak before making a shiny sandwich but got lucky, I don't think I even hit the 60 mark

A random shiny Cyclizar ran past me while I was about to join a raid. Fortunately I was able to catch up to it but God, it gave me a scare. Those fuckers are fast

Toxictricity, Mareanie (now Toxapex), Charcadet (now Ceruledge) and 3 male Indeedees (wanted at least a female and a male but 3 male shinies wasn't bad either)

Depends on if I'm looking to fill out the living 'dex with it or not. If I am looking to LD it, I keep sperging for shinies. If not, I fuck off and if I have a sammy going, try and use it in the best spot to isolate farm *type* shinies.

Oh well, I just caught it and continued to picnic reset for a male one, which I did actually get after a little while in the same outbreak (had to use another sandwich though). I even lead with a female cute charm Sylveon while looking for the second one, fully knowing cute charm doesn't work anymore in gen 9, but my autism wouldn't be quelled unless I knew that I did everything I could including superstitious bullshit to try to get a male one to spawn. Well I got the right one on my second try so maybe superstition has its perks. Thanks for reading my blogpost, I named the female one Izu.

Sandwich is usually better, but Tandemaus' shiny is fucking awful and near impossible to see without hyper-focusing on each one. I'd say start out with Sandwich but switch to breeding if you get sick of it/the eye strain starts setting in.

Personally 7. Wandering around I've found 4 from just wandering around (1 was hunting an authentic Sinistea and found a shiny one instead). Breed 1 Shiny sprig and Shiny hunted 2 paradox mons. Doesn't include those I got from surprise trade/regular trade.

As I suspected, it does indeed seem like shiny hunting is easier in this game, but at the same time I have to say that it's also a lot more fun, actually hunting for a shiny in the wild instead of pressing the same buttons until you see sparkles on a pokemon, this time you have to actually know what the fuckers look like and understand how lighting might affect their color in whatever enviroment you're searching it in

Ah sorry. Just annoyed with people having recency bias and personal experience. I didn't find shit all in Legends until I started hunting them seriously and explored while dodging all trainers and ended up with 3-4 random full-odds before finishing post-game and unlocking herba in Violet and even then, I'm still nowhere near the amount found/caught that other anons are.
RNG is RNG and even if you're getting all the luck, doesn't mean everyone is.

I don't know what the odds for finding an eevee outbreak other than it's hard. The encounter power sandwich will help you find normal type outbreaks as you cycle your clock.

whatever is currently spawned around you is saved
very rarely an outside pokemon may spawn in before your saves and you will have to reload again
do NOT approach a pokemon that has a special fleeing method like digging or diving (i.e. silicobra or dratini) before saving because if they disappear while saving they're gone forever

My most recent haul. First Flutter Mane showed up almost immediately after starting, the second one came ~15 minutes later. During the last 5 minutes or so, for reasons I can only speculate on, the spawns stopped working. I have never had this happen before that no matter where I went, nothing else spawned until the sandwich ended. Once it ended, as I was collecting my thoughts and prepared to leave, I found a shiny Scream Tail, which makes 3 total

Counting the shiny Cyclizar I traded for a Miraidon, 14. As much as I like hunting using sandwiches, I haven't felt much of a desire to hunt. Few Gen 9 mons interest me enough to hunt them, and the rest either don't interest me or don't seem particularly worth getting to begin with, mainly the Gen 1 and 2 mons since I can just use the Coin Case glitch, dupe as many as I want and send 'em over when HOME compatibility for SV becomes a thing

Flutter Mane is the only Ghost type in the entirety of AZ, and the caves/underground spots it can spawn are all one big pool so there aren't any other groups for it to choose from. What this means is that it can ONLY spawn the Ghost type, Flutter Mane, if you have a Ghost level 3 Encounter.
The issue presented is that Flutter Mane, like most ghosts, will despawn during the day time. When it's day, they'll technically be spawning in constantly but the game will forcibly despawn them before you can see them (unless you use the lock-on feature, at which point you can watch them fade away). It turned to day during your last 5 minutes so none of them could appear.
This is actually the optimal Flutter hunting method, as shinies are (mostly) hard-coded to not disappear through usual methods and thus when a shiny Flutter is spawned during the day then the game will not despawn it. You can just AFK in AZ and the game will constantly reroll until shinies for you.

Every Pokemon that gets spawned is part of an individual player's spawns, meaning that each one is tied to your game. So being in a Scarlet Union won't make a Violet player spawn Scarlet exclusives, and if both a Scarlet and Violet player were in the same area then both exclusives can spawn but each one "belongs" to each player (meaning if one were to leave the area or Union, their spawns would disappear). Essentially, this means that a Scarlet playing wanting to catch a Violet exclusive will have to have a Violet player find the shiny then call the Scarlet player to come over. You also generally do not want to be in the same place so that you know whose spawns are whose, which is relevant for one of the shiny hunting tricks.
With that said, the general methods are:
>player A resets for an outbreak of exclusive mon, player B hops into the Union and just does the outbreak like normal until required result
>all players of a union share a sandwich with one contributing the herbas (usually host for convenience), so everybody gets that sandwich's boosts and if host gets nothing they can just reset and remake the union - then just shiny hunt like normal
>when you encounter a shiny, you can save then have another player encounter it - when the other player is in battle, close and reload the game to reload the shiny and duplicate it (the person who spawned it CANNOT be the one to encounter it, as it being their spawn means that they are the only one who can respawn it upon reloading)

Maybe using a more general sandwich like fighting that hits several paradoxes.

As for the shiny disconnect, can it be any of the players or just the host?
For example I'm scarlet, I'm the host and the other player is violet, if I find a violet pokemon can the violet player save in front and then I battle it while he disconnects?
Can it be backwards?

And do you happen to know if hunting in separate locations kills spawn rates because I've heard that a lot.

You'll either want to do

As for the whole duplicating thing, it's whoever spawns in the Pokemon. It's tied to that player, so that player is the only one who can respawn it. Any other player can be the one to encounter it (only one though), as long as the player who spawned it doesn't.
In simpler terms, it'd be like if you could gift somebody a Pokemon then reload your save to get that Pokemon back on your account. Just in this case instead of owning the pokemon, you "own" the spawn to it, like when you reload a shiny outside of a Union.

Probably a misconception. Every player can only spawn a max of 7 or so while in a Union (I think it goes down to 5 in AZ?). When you're together it might appear as if more are spawning in, but that's just because each player's spawns are appearing in that same area. In fact being in the same area might actually be something that kills spawn rates, assuming the game can't handle all of them in the same area and enforces the usual cap of 15 wild mons rendered at any time.

I have an outbreak on top of a mountain in north province area 2. I can use a fire sandwich and the only fire pokemon spawns are scovillain and flareon. There’s one rock that other pokemon spawn on which is where i got hawlucha and spoink.

It’s actually a really nice spot with an easy circuit you can do to refresh spawns. About to try again to hopefully get a pepper this time.

I was the same, although I think it's because I started with gen 3. In comparison, Gen 2 feels so slow and tedious without all the QOL features that i'm so used to expecting. I started sometime in March/April, got 3 badges like you did and stopped, then went back in June to hunt the Odd Egg shiny before stopping again until last month.

If you're hunting a min/max size encounter with Teensy and Humongo power it's a 1/128, 1/96 and 1/64 chance respectively using levels 1, 2 and 3.

Got my first shiny Paradox Pokémon, an Iron Valiant, caught in a Beast Ball.
That was the only shiny from my sandwich though, I went for fighting sparkling/encounter/title power and was hoping to also get an Iron Hands.

When I do shiny hunt Iron Hands, I'll be targeting ones in the upper levels nearer research station 3. This is important because they can be under level 56, and not have Wild Charge to suffer recoil damage.
Whilst I'll have a Volt Absorb Pawmot ready for the level 56+ encounters, ideally I just want to have my Breloom ready to spore it and hock Beast Balls until it goes in.
Also considering just using Master Ball to be in-line with the professors.

Also found a shiny Braviary on the way out of area zero, that was pretty cool. Caught that in a Beast Ball, too.

AFAIK they have full shiny odds because they’re fixed spawns so just save your game far enough away that it’s despawned, reload and go over to make it spawn, then repeat as needed I guess. Since most of them show up on the overworld too I wouldn’t recommend shiny hunting the Tera ones though

Got all of them during an outbreak. The first one showed up while i was doing the 60 KOs, then i got two of them with a sparkling sandwich and the last one with a regular encounter sandwich. Actually two showed up with the regular sandwich but i messed up and made one de-spawn by accident.

Try edging the spawn location to disappear any unwanted mobs. Some outbreaks are weird where it prefers to spawn like three groups of 5 pokemon rather than the outbreak. Just edge them off screen and ralts should start appearing.

you have 1/1000 chance to get a ball as a tournament reward, it's not an efficient way to get them. meanwhile I got 4 balls in under an hour just resetting the auction. only downside is the auctions won't have beast balls

You can't transfer pokémon back into a past generation, retard. Legends was Gen 8, SV is Gen 9. The dumbest part of this conversation is that Apriballs and Teddiursa were both available in BDSP, so you don't even need to concern yourselves with backwards compatibility (even though it's almost an inevitability since they started storing per-game movepools and data), you can just look for someone with an Apriball in those games that's willing to trade, and given how easy it was to clone in BDSP, it shouldn't be too difficult

Any known places to farm the white one only? I know if I keep doing the south Levincia reset spot, but that area gives all four colours

I'm pretty sure you can't move anything to LGPE, aside from stuff from GO. Like I thought you couldn't even move Gen 6/7 from Bank.
