>>52916382>Pokemon fans judge by appearances and first impressions alone and never move past them, and Goh was introduced as a bratty homosexual know-it-all.Which wasn't fair to the character. Goh really didn't act bratty. He wasn't ill-mannered or prone to throwing tantrums. He had the occasional emotional outburst, but all of Ash's companions, and Ash himself, have had outbursts in the past. And Goh isn't canonically gay, so for people to hate on him for something that he isn't even confirmed to be is their problem, not a problem caused by the character (not that being gay should be a problem). The know-it-all part... was something so relatively minor that it seems silly to get hung up over.
I don't think Goh was ever given a fair shake by a chunk of the fandom from the get go. That's not to say the character couldn't have been written better or that there aren't legitimate criticisms, but some of the stuff that gets said about the character is clearly made by people that made up their minds long ago and aren't interested in hearing other perspectives.
