I kinda hate how Dawn got shown the most favoritism from the writers and was their golden child. She got like 20 return episodes. When has anyone every got something like that?

Misty was from Shudo's era and May couldn't be brought back because of VA issues so Dawn was the first female character of the new writers that could reasonably be brought back, hence her being a favorite of theirs

May's Japanese VA has throat cancer and cannot speak and Japan doesn't often recast characters out of respect for the original unless they flat out die and are just so currently important that they need to be replaced
