Yeah, fishmons are mostly boring, even the ones that have an interesting gimmick. Like, Veluza is a fucking cool idea, but it also LOOKS like just another fish so who cares. The fish don't have the benefit of being easy to catch early on either, so you usually have access to non-fish water types.

I bet you hate fishs in real life and find them boring. Japanese people loves them, they are very important in their culture and thats why there are so many fishmons introduced in each gen. The fishs in Paldea are all great and the most powerful Pokemon of all time is a lava goldfish now, its quite the opposite of forgettable.

Surprisingly, it only applies to one pokemon in SV, Veluza. Nobody really cares about it.
Dondozo and Tatsugiri are really popular, and Finizen/Palafin are also popular

There are lot of gimmick fishmons that really need double typings or gimmick attacks to stand out, else every fish would be a monotype shitmon with limited movepool like some quadrupedal mammals. Either movepool and typing or great designs like the caramel sugar candy fish or non water type Guzzlord.
