Imo the main thing about slither wing is it is BIG, so if anything tries to attack it, the sheer fact it can stand on its hind legs, and assumable spread its wings to make itself look MASSIVE, has the sheer power to scare off other predators. Add that to the fact that the wings act like a solar panel for its blood, more sunlight across wing surface area, more bloodflow, more flow, stronger and faster output of the pokemon. The tail is literally just a way for it to stand up and remain balanced...
