pretty poor design, ruins the progression of Wartortle while also introducing a random design element that was not at all present in the line until that point

also got cucked with megas and HAs, again for charizard, in short a sad story for blastoise

Is there a single person that complained about Blastoise being inconsistent with Wartotle's design PRIOR to the alpha leaks? I feel like this is a completely invented/retrospective phenomenon. Don't get me wrong, Squirtle is cute as fuck and I prefer Wartortle as the edgy teenaged mid-evo vs Charmeleon, but Blastoise is an absolute unit.

Probably my least favourite of the Kanto starters, but it's still a really fucking cool pokemon, used Gmax Blastoise a lot in Gen 8 comp too which was fun

At first it seems unfair that blastoise is the only one that doesn't get a second type out of the three, but then you see how fewer weaknesses it has because of it. Just goes to show that picking squirtle is 100% ez mode and you should be ashamed for picking it i stead of charmander

It's ok. It's gameplay isn't really different from Kanto's other water types and I'm not a huge fan of Blue with Venusaur so it's the one I use the least.

I never complained because Blastoise is my favorite, but even back in the gen 1 days, looking at my little figurines lined up, I thought it was odd how different it looked while Squirtle and Wartortle looked so similar. But a lot of Pokemon changed drastically between stages, so I didn't give it much thought beyond that.
