It would be unironically pretty cool - the Pokemon, the landscapes, artefacts, historical ruins, the male gym leaders/rivals could be cool if done right. African men are super cool.
I'd unironically wanna be Nelson Mandela or some Zulu tribe leader, or a 50 cent expy, no joke. GTA San Andreas is one of my all time games.

I dunno man, you can have variety: a galarian mine owner, a gold wearing thicc momma from the region, or a Stacy water user (reference to Chad lake). Imagination is the way of life.

But you are right, GF would ruin it because they lack imagination to even think about something else beyond money and gimmicks that will never be used after the Gen.

A mention in the DLCs either as an easter egg or a pokedex entry is the most Africa can hope for, a safari zone in Morocco would be asking too much.

I just hope they bring Zebstrika back and maybe a regional form for Myghtyena and Liepard in the DLCs

For me the biggest problem would be to avoid any controversial topic, on the part of the Japanese public, their reluctance to have a mostly dark-skinned cast (If you don't believe me see their version of Earthsea) and on the part of the SJW complaints for not putting the correct skin tone.

And this is only the tip of the problem. As a developer and/or investor I wouldn't get into so much trouble and would just continue with the safe route, Europe, North America, Japan or simply create a fictitious territory as was the case with Pasio.

Now that I took time to rethink, this made me wish there was a Pokemon in a black territory much more. A change of scenery would be really cool. I mean, if it worked for GTA, why not Pokemon? Besides, you could start in any touristic place, so the ratio of white to black wouldn't be so jarring. You will understand "hey, the world has different people besides cultures. Who would've thought?"

problem is where? africa is so vast and filled with so many different landscapes that you can easily take different approaches to where to start. personally i'd start in the center and work your way around like B/W 2 just to avoid a linear path.

They'd probably get in a PR shitstorm if they gave each European country its own region then squeezed the entirety of Africa into a single game.
That said, I could see a region that stretches from Egypt down to Ethiopia. They'd have Egypt and Sudan as a large desert-y area, with Ethiopia as the more temperate forests and grasslands. Plus the Red Sea is right there so they can fit in some water travel/mons.
