I guess the lack of marketing and excitement behind the 4th and 5th gen games, even removing the “gotta catch ‘em all” slogan somewhere during this period. The lukewarm initial reaction of Black and White probably made them regret a lot of things.

I keep hearing that Game Freak (or maybe it was TPCi) is paying influencers to shit on it relentlessly.
I don't know the truth, and I honestly don't care that much, but it is weird how one day the common consensus changed.
My favorite Gen is 3, and I noticed that it's getting to be more popular then I remember, so maybe it's a generation thing, and maybe one day the common consensus will change again.

They most certainly aren’t paying people to shit on Gen2. They just neglect it, put it down to make Kanto look better. and spit on Johtofans face every change they get Though it’s obvious things are changing now, even if there are a few spiteful programmers. the few influencers who were slandering Johto were just bored trolls looking for attention and SwShills deflecting from SwSh’s flaws.

It's plain as day that they regret Raichu. He always gets shafted in favour of not only Pikachu, but Pichu as well. I'm sure even one of the dex entries says something like "trainers don't usually evolve their Pikachu to Raichu, since Pikachu is way cuter".

I agree with this, just look at how many Pikachu gimmicks remove the ability to evolve or don't work once evolved. Raichu was designed as the evolution to an ordinary Pokemon, not the series mascot.
