I believe those are for HOME. Reason being when they announced HOME features in the SV website "for later", they already had this style of sprites and it rang me as weird that SV battle stadium menus would have those icons and the rest of HOME wouldn't.

A welcome change regardless because the current plastic-like 3D aesthetic in HOME icons is hideous.

These sprites are also shared with BDSP. Everything from the first four gens is already covered. We just need the missing ones from 5-8.

Hydro Steam is probably for Rantune. Hydro = Water, Steam = Fire. It's kind of missing Raikou though, but it will probably end up as a Water/Fire-type anyway.

Psyblade is obviously for Corrazion. Not sure where the Psychic-type comes from though.

the issue is it removes the uniqueness of fossilmons
if I can stumble across a Tyrunt or Cranidos in normal gameplay then they're just normal pokemon, not fossilmons

To be honest, I don't believe Gamefreak would actually go out of their way to create 450+ new sprites (BDSP already had Gen 4 and below updated ones) if they did not have to given the base dexcut for SV. Where would these new sprites for Pokemon not in base SV appear? Why was this sprite data even available at the VGC? Uh you would think GF would have this shit locked up in their offices. The fact these sprites showed up at the VGC accidentally means they're ready to be put into SV. How many Pokemon ended up missing from SWSH+DLCS? I think it was less than 30. This Gen for SV, we'll probably get around to having that many missing again once all the DLCs have rolled out for it. So we'll end up with at least 90-95% of the natdex hopefully.

I know the Pokemon world runs off of different logic and physical laws but what fucking idiot builds power plants that will last a thousand years into the future? That's not gonna provide enough power, you're going to have something way better by then, like fusion!
Also, if I'm not mistaken, literally the only game to treat fossils this way is PMD2. PMD1 and PMD3-4 don't bother with them.
