I am genuinely confused as to why anyone can consider Gen 5 to be better than Gen 6 with this clear-as-day evidence. Then also add to that the fact that you can actually have a team with all Pokemon from Gens 1-6 in the main campaign. How can anyone genuinely think that Gen 5 is somehow better? Is pic related really that influential on zoomers that don't know any better?

BW1 has better developed characters, and BW2 has more post-game stuff, but XY is generally improved in ways that are easy to just take for granted like the visual presentation, models, UX design and game mechanics.

Kalosperms are the saddest fanbase ever seen in Pokemon. They can't even defend their games at all without throwing another gen under the bus. Their anime, which is the only thing they can ever be proud of, is shitted on by Journeys as well the abysmal league tournament ending. Their favorite Ash shipping has sunken. Their favorite champion and edgy rival is both humiliated by Leon. And even now, in the height of Kalos nostalgia, pokemon fans in general think it's just a ok gen at best. Truly sad.

My point has remained the same since the first post - Gen 6 allows me to use Pokemon from all different Generations in the main campaign. BW does not. BW2 tries to walk this back, but does a poor job and ultimately does not give enough variation of Pokemon from other Gens. Gen 5 is worse than Gen 6. Cope.

XY saved the series. Gen 4 and 5 were lifeless, unambitious rehashes of gen 3 that added nothing lasting or beneficial to the series. Borts and foeti will seethe but this is the truth.

The series has been dead since Unova. At least gen 6 felt like a mini Renaissance. Pokemon designs were far superior, the gameplay was refreshing and at least innovated things somewhat, the graphics were much easier to look at, and the community felt more alive than ever after being relatively lowkey during the dark BW days.

Kalos wasn't great by any way of the imagination, but it was sure of a lot better than the empty black hole that was gen 5.

This is wild.
It still feels like seeing mainline Pokemon in 3D is new. Probably because they look like the same flat low poly models being used over and over.
It's crazy how much more memorable the models were and how much more personality the animations had in Stadium 1 & 2, especially compared to the robotic and smooth ones in modern gen.
