>>52934372Grinding is tedious in itself, the reson it's fun is because the basic gameplay is fun, and the grinding lets you feel that the victories were earned and gives you a reason to play around outside of story. Making them matter more, would give you a reason to weigh your grinding choices early, instead of letting you coast of LV and then forcing you to re-grind. I'm not saying to force you to grind more in total, just expect that if it "feels" like it matters where you grind, instead of only that you do, people will naturally choose their priorities, like in other jrpg's.
I bet it would feel even more satisfying when you raise a pokemon by actively making choices, instead of just making one choice to grind that particular mon.
>>52933485I know that allusion is beyond the scope of understanding of many an anon, and yet I shouldn't need to pinpoint the relevance when talking about game mechanics.
Still, for you.
It's related in the sense that it talks about mechanical depth being there in the game, but the player never needing to interact with it, and commenter only doing so very late game, because the game is too easy and the AI too shit.
Now tell me if any of the above don't sound a little bit familiar to you.
They also provided a game as a counterpoint, where if you don't understand game mechanics nor use them well, you're going to be eating rocks, until you learn how to do so, which can drive people off the esperience.
