Now that it's all about to come to an end, what were some of the all-time most visually impressive battles the anime had to offer?

Best animated one is Alain vs Ash. The rest is not that visually impressive.
Even the animated Pokemon shorts offer much higher quality than the actual anime.
2nd best would be the fight against Kukui and 3rd place thr fight against Leon.

I always hated anime battles because they'd tend to do stupid shit like this, or whenever a Pokemon used a move it would go to the "colorful background" dimension.
And I felt the fights never really had "weight" or "impact" because of the constant speedlining thing. Really took me out of them, watching the anime as a kid.
The best stylistic choice for battles from XY-anime onward was dropping that, seriously.
Ash vs Clemont were really great.

I don't know about 'visually impressive' but a lot of the original anime scripts were goated. Pic related killed my sides for a decade.

They battle like 3 times if I recall correctly. First was immediately about the Orange League, it was a 1v1 between Ash's Pikachu and Gary's Eevee. They didn't battle for all of Kanto. Next was the Johto League. Final battle was Pikachu vs Gary's Electivire, basically teasing for the Sinnoh season.

Yeah, outside of the world finals, this whole League was the only time where I was actually interested in who was the winner, and the matches were pretty great at the time.

Speaking of the world finals, Irish losing to Cynthia kinda stung. It's not that I wanted Cynthia to lose, but I wanted Itis to lose to Ash.
