>>52939177I posted in this thread last week about buying the set of Magical Pokemon Journey volumes in Japanese. They came in today.
One really bizarre thing that people who've seen the raws may or may not know is that the printed volumes literally cut off the text that goes past the designated page borders. Like one panel just a few pages into the first volume has one kanji just cut in half by the top of the page, and the entire last line of dialogue in another panel of the same chapter is cut off along the left side. It's the sloppiest shit I've ever seen in a Japanese manga edition, to the point that I wondered if I got some weird bootlegs and that's the reason they were so cheap. But nope, looking up the raws shows the same problem exists in the scans from, what, a decade or two ago, so this is all Flower Comic's fault I guess.
(check out the panel on the bottom left of the left page-- you can juuuust see a portion of the last line of dialogue in the speech bubble that's cut off, and in my physical copy it's even more visible than in this old scan because you can make out just a bit more of it)
The volumes are also weirdly... wide or something compared to a standard manga volume and the pages are really white/thick, like they're made of a different kind of paper than usual.
That's my shitty review so far I guess. I haven't even read it yet but it just amazed me to see an official release in the original language be so sloppy in that kind of way.
