>>52945576Because it combines the best parts of the game (the actual game story and it's harshness) and the ashnime (AJ from the ashnime - the Sandslash Gym Leader guy- even makes a cameo) - it takes the ashnime tournament and explores what makes it cool in particular : awesome DP+XY ashnime season tier stratagems and stellar visual decisions.
Just read it.
The whole manga is focused on a tournament which is the best part of the ashnime since there are no "real" protagonists in that type of story, the one who wins doesn't win because he or she is the MC but rather the one who wins is the best trainer among others who are all on an equal footing which means plot armour is non existent, so the stakes REALLY rise since victory in a Pokemon battle in this kind of story is not predetermined by "protagonist-ness".
It's the ultimate formula for realism combined with idealism.
It really comes down to BOTH spontaneous battle tactics AND previous training, also a big deal of luck so the tension is always there. You literally can't predict who will win so that keeps you on the edge since the winner isn't the "good guy" and the loser isn't the good guy either actual.
It's not about being "a good person".
It's the clash of ambitions done in the spirit of the ashnime Gen1-6 Pokemon Leagues. Yes the ashnime SM and JN leagues were total trash.
