Quagsire was never anywhere near as good as dozo is rn so no not really. Dozo is more comparable to bulky waters of the time like Suicune

Dodonzo is like a lv.40+ encounter minimum, Quags equivalent is Clodsire or other early waters like Ludicolo or Poliwag, if anything, Quag having any competitive viability at all is an anomaly.

Quagsire is actually better at the singles unaware wall job just by virtue of typing and movepool.

But kek I didn't realize his stats are actually based on Quagsire's as a point of reference.

I haven’t touched SV but looking at their movesets, Quagsire’s is more broad, has reliable recovery and stat-boost moves, and some moves that can support teammates in Double Battles (E.g. Helping Hand, Yawn). Meanwhile, the big fish has a very shallow movepool and most of them are attacking moves. It also has no way of boosting its Sp Def or recovering health unlike Quag (who has Stockpile and Recover) so it gets completely fucked by Grass moves and other high Special Attacking mons.

I have not once seen a Dondozo used in singles ingame, but have seen plenty of Quagsires.

Maybe he performs super well in the OU environment, or maybe people playing the actual game are sleeping on him, but I have not run afoul of him once.

Dondozo outclasses quagsire at being an unaware water wall. That's why Don is OU and Quag UU.

Quag has hazards and recover but people use Glimora and the Donphans for hazards.
But the reason Don is the better unaware wall is because Quag gets 2HKO to booster energy, band and STAB Tera, and still Don outlives with chesto/rest and curse.

Dondozo is pretty much exactly in-line with late game Pokemon. The real creep was putting Flamigo all over the early game
