Kind of. I did a lot of hacking in Gen 5,6 and 7, but I did catch all 400+ in Sw/Sh. The lack of a Nat Dex made it feel more possible and overworld mons make it not boring. Filling up the dex in S/V was a ton of fun, cannot say that about random encounters of old, that shit sucked. All gen 8 and 9 pokemon are legit, and I've went back to catch a lot of old mons, or breed them in the newer games so a lot of the hacked ones are most likely purged, but I might have some leftover since I never game them max IV's so they all blend in.

Manaphy is obtainable in PLA. It's just the gen 5 and 6 mythicals that are lost to time.

Out of the Gen 5 mythicals, Genesect is easy to find in Go and Keldeo's catchable in Crown Tundra. From Gen 6, Volcanion was distributed recently.

moving 500 pokemon each time from the bank doesn't count.
There's not a single generation where you could catch them all and transfer all of them in 1 game

I've only played Gens 1, 2 and 3, and I did catch them all in those games. I didn't bother playing any of the following Gens as the Gen 3 full Pokedex was a long grind, and to me completing the dex is one of the main reasons to play Pokemon (that and pic related, and they eventually stopped making those). If I bought SV I would feel obligated to catch every Pokemon available and with over 1000 mons it's just way too much.

They don't even include every Pokemon in the games anymore. You get 3-400 in the base game, and then another couple hundred in the DLCs.

Then why did the official Pokemon YouTube just put out a bullshit video on catching all 1008? I remember how much of a con it felt to have to buy 5 games for my Gen 3 dex. You mean the series has become a con to the point that you physically can't catch them all?

To be fair, $15 for the entire year for a very, very niche use isn't that bad.You could do it for free but TPC never fucked up storage yet and I don't trust my ass to store my own Pokemon locally.

Absolutely incorrect, during Gen 6 by using both XY and ORAS you could catch them all within 4 games tops. Yes, you'd need to get some Friend Safaris and roll certain Mirage Islands but no need for transfers from previous gens.

It really isn't, it's not Google Drive or Dropbox. Also the work of updating it with new games. They didn't make it and just never touch it again.There's more work behind the scenes than just data storage. It's got to connect to the games, it needs to communicate with the 3DS, update art assets, store move sets to specific games. It's doing a lot of work.

It's not PKHeX with dropbox. You're not paying for more or less storage, you're buying the ability to store your Pokemon in a system that's not free for TPC to update and maintain. I know you hate Gamefreak but it is work, regardless if you like it or not. I understand it's nor worth it to you, but it sure as fuck shouldn't be free, that's just being an entitled bitch.

How? Just have everything from Gen 1-7 on a Gen 7 game, have everything from Gen 8 on a Gen 8 game and have everything from Gen 9 on a Gen 9 game. Yes, you should be able to just put everything on a Gen 9 game, but Gamefreak sucks.

If they released a local storage system, they wouldn't have to do anything at all besides update it every time a new game comes out. It's cloud based specifically so they can fuck you with a subscription.

If you told any data hoarder to put everything on a cloud they'd laugh you out of the room. If they really cared about redundancy they'd have a local storage along with a cloud backup.

I've completed the regional dex in Emerald, Platinum, White, Alpha Sapphire, Sun, Sword, Let's go Pikachu and Legends Arceus
The only time I fully completed the national dex was in Pokémon Y because PSS was really fun to use. I could've completed the national dex in Sun, but the lack of dex entries for the Pokémon that weren't in the regional dex made me give up

In terms of a complete living dex, no, that shit is a huge waste of time
In terms of both Bank and HOME Pokedex completion, I have caught 'em all, and I have the Original Color Magearna to prove it. That said, I'm missing some alternate forms, mainly Gigantimax forms
In terms of individual games, I've fully completed the Pokedexes of all games I've owned save for Shield because I couldn't care less about the Gen 8 games, and the Gen 1 & 2 games on Virtual Console since they're mostly just for making and duping shinies (Soul Silver, Black, Black 2, X, Omega Ruby, Sun, Ultra Sun, and Scarlet)
