It's just gone back to how they've always worked. Besides that's the tradeoff for your pokemon (once again) being able to retain all previously known moves as reserves that you can swap around as you please.

The obvious answer here is that there's no way game freak could possibly have all pokemon in a single game ever again. It was already a lot when we hit 500 mons, now we're 1000+ (not counting region variants) and game freak has barely improved their programming abilities, so it's a bit much to think they're up to the challenge.

If other studios haven't been doing it, because they actually needed to watch what they spent dev money on to get their games launched, then why the fuck do you expect Game Freak to have to do it in the same medium? Oh sorry, I thought we were talking about vidya and not live services (because needing to pay for a game you had to buy just to play it is even more retarded than dextards whingeing). Yeah, live services have that shit, but actual video games, that are meant to be "complete" (minus the dlc cuts for launch, naturally) don't and never have done that shite (because again, they're not trying to sell you on a live service to support for years, they're selling a video game, with plans to make and sell more in the future, including making X game a series if it proves monetarily viable to be a series).

I've been playing since R/B and while catching them all is nice, over 1000 mons is retarded. But I'm not going to tell you how to have fun. If you want a living dex whatever just don't expect me to not call you stupid for posting negative reactions over the most pragmatic way to continue the series. These games aren't labors of love as much as cash grabs. You gotta use perspective to get over your hang ups.
