I have no idea what the point of the anime even is to be honest. I mean yes "to make money" but even beyond that I have no idea what their intent for this show was.
Was it for boys to self-insert and indulge in power fantasies? Well as said above, he's lost so many times.
Was it to show off Pokemon battles in action? It's so poorly animated and drawn, with fight choreography that's beyond embarrassing, I have no idea how you'd think it's satisfying, even if you were 4 years old or whatever the target demographic is.
Was it to show off each new region and the people in it? The characters and places in the anime are often so different that they're completely unrecognizable, or so bland that, well, I guess it's true to the source.
Was it to try and tell some 'epic' story a la Naruto or DBZ? The arcs are so disconnected, there's barely any cohesion within the arcs, Ash never actually grows or develops, it's just a disjointed mess.
I just don't understand who or what this was made for.
