So can we stop pretending this game’s good now? And by that I mean for some reason completely ignoring all of its glaring issues because “muh nostalgia”? Why did people shit all over Sword and Shield when this is worse in every conceivable way?

My guy we are talking about a game targeted at kids in the 8-12 range. It isn't the deepest creative work.

Objectively untrue. Paldea has some of the best designs in the entire series, up there with xy and sumo. You just hate anything that's new and unfamiliar.

The game is ass but that has been the case since gen 8.
Lgpe is a cashgrab.
Bdsp is a dreadful remake.
Sword and Shield is boring and bland.
SV is empty and performs like utter rubbish while taking out more QoL and content.

It's just downhill from here.

Because this game is fun and SwSh and technical aspects can be overlooked as long as a game is entertaining because that’s the final goal.
SwSh gets shit because it is a boring shit game, so you have no reason to overlook its flaws

Their only different is the story and the character writing. SwSh was the worst fucking game in this regard, while SV is one of the best, if not the best (depending on the DLC). It makes all the difference.
