Mythicals went from having lore and areas in game from gen 2 - 5 to just being a movie tie with nothing in the games.

Up to around Gen 6/7, mythicals felt, well mythical.
>Gen 1: Progenitor of the strongest Pokemon, origin of all other Pokemon.

With some you could argue that they weren't all that special like Meloetta or Manaphy, but even then they felt rare compared to Zarude and Zeraora.

Genesect is fucking cool because it ties into the villains of the game and acts as a cool spin on the concept of Mewtwo.
I hope we get an original, unaltered form for it in the future honestly.

I just miss when mythicals actually had some lore to them and you had to do something in the overworld to see them. For too long have they just been soulless mystery gift presents. Hope that changes for the better

BW did legends and mythicals better than any gen imo. Not necessarily in terms of design, but how they were presented within the games and the lore they were given.
It's a shame that BW2 ruined the musketeers' whole "hatred and abandonment of humans" to feed into muh chosen one bullshit.

Volcanion may be the ugliest mythical, but at least it has an unique typing, design and idea. Zarude could literally be Grookie's final evolution if you just made Twackey (or whatever is called) slightly different, it's ridiculous how mundane this shit is

How does Paldea handle their Paradox Pokemon? Theoretically Area Zero should make them the most powerful nation in Pokemon Earth since every Paradox Pokemon is as strong as a mythical but, although they are numerous, catching them is no easy feat.

Zarude is still pretty cryptid-like thematically. The problem is that there's no reason for it to be in Galar whatsoever; not even thematically.

This is why I dislike the current Mystery Gift system being so detached from the games as of late.

Mythicals aren't necessarily stronger than regular mons especially if they don't have hax like time travel or wish granting capabilities. Mythicals are just very rare but a solid fully evolved mon could go toe to toe with most

The most baffling thing about this is that, with the inclusion of updates and full-on expansions, they could easily use Mythicals as a kind-of "mini DLC."
Like with Zarude, there could've been a downloadable short quest where you and Hop discover a new area in Glimwood Tangle and catch Zarude there. Instead they just mystery gift it to you with all the fanfare of a wet fart.

depends on the mon in question, really.
for example, deoxys can go toe-to-toe with beings like rayquaza without any kind of 'hax' to its name.

Mythicals were already watered down greatly in gen 3. I don't recall Latias and Latios having any lore behind them in the game. Just beat the e4 and they show up. The Regi puzzles were very cool though
