>>53026382I'd say Hoenn > Kanto = Unova BW2 > Johto > Unova BW >> Sinnoh.
I really dislike slow starts, which is why Hoenn is up there. Getting a good choice early is very important I think.
Kanto does a really "jack-of-all-trades" job, there's no real massive flaw aside from too much VEs. It just works.
BW Unova just has really good type balance, but yes the start is abysmal and the region generally suffers from the "all new mons" autism.
BW2 Unova is fucking weird lol. the availability stays strong all along with early Sewaddle, Magby, Mareep, Psyduck etc, then Route 4, then Reversal Mountain. But it just feels really shitty to have Munna and Cubchoo in postgame-only
I used to really like the whole "you have to work for the mons" thing in Johto, until I realized it ended making my playthroughs pretty sluggish, as mid-game I tend to finally get the mons I want (Xatu, Lanturn, Sneasel etc) but need to grind them, for no real reason because those mons aren't exactly even good.
Sinnoh... What even is there to say here? First four routes have like four mons in total. bruh. Too many gimmick ways to get mons, especially Honey is AIDS. New evos locked to postgame sucks, but that would be fairly okay if Sinnoh actually had enough mons to choose from. The variety of new mons is just even worse than Kalos, shit making no sense.
