How do I motivate myself to replay PLA? I’ve beaten Volo for the first time, then didn’t touch the game again for… seven months, I guess.

make a list of every unregistered pokemon in your dex in notepad and the method for obtaining them
then just go through it from easiest to hardest

You shouldn't force yourself to replay games if you don't want to. That's how you get burned out, and Pokémon games don't really have that good replayability in the first place. I can handle about one a year since the yearly releases are still pretty much the same game with new Pokémon and a different story, but we're talking about a game that came out last year that you already played through once. Why don't you try to get into the post game, maybe do some Path of Solitude battles and train some Pokémon up for the Battle Reverie?

Let me rephrase… I didn’t complete the game, I got busy with life at the very beginning after I first beat Volo and his Togepi.

Ohhh, seriously? Well pay no mind to anything I just said. PLA's story is okay, and a lot of the quests are just 'hey catch this Pokémon and show it to me'. I found a lot of motivation by completing the dex so that I could transfer it into HOME. The actual gameplay is solid, all things considered and it is a lot more interactive than how say catching works in the mainline games.
