It's already immune to freeze, hail and sheer cold, might as well give it a complete immunity to the type as a whole.

Ice doesn't need better coverage, it needs better resistances. At least, it does so long as gamefreak is going to continue making slow, bulky, defensive Ice types.

I'd argue Flying would be quite sensible. Something that lives in a snowstorm isn't going to mind a Gust.
I'm sure the various Water/Ice types would really appreciate having Grass be neutral though.

Ice should be resistant to Water
keep the resistance the other way around, since with Freeze Dry Ice types can be decent Water counters (Water deserves a slight nerf too)
giving Ice a second type to switch into seems like a decent start

Artic animals have waterproof fur or blubber to protect from fur so this makes sense. Also Flying resist would work to nerf flying.
Ice really doesn't need too much change,

i still'd rather be conservative with the changes, i don't think flying should get hit and part of the identity of the ice type is being "frail" so it makes sense to not have too many resistances, its just that simply one (to itself) is too pathetic, but maybe if its still too shit that flying thing could work

aside from that, Bug should be strong against fairies, not resisted by it, but i don't think bug needs the fairy resistance for example

Bug is a shit type both offensively and defensively, so make it resist and be super effective to Fairy, the most OP type.

Poison being super effective on Fairy wasn't enough to make it worthwhile offensively, so make it super effective on Water too.

Ice is probably the worst type defensively, so make it fully imune to itself and also resist Water. And bring back Frostbite.

Remove Steel's Ice resistance.

Normal should probably be super effective on something, but they get mostly get good coverage already and I can't think of what they should be SE against, so I guess it stays the same.

There, the type chart is fixed.

The problem isnt Ice, but Ice-Type Pokemon. Theres no reason why such a fantastic offensive typing is stuck on slow and bulky ice types that are too frail to do shit. Gamefreak just insists on making the next Avalugg over and over again

Fairy is the only thing I could really see Normal being super-effective against without having it feel too strange from a logic standpoint, although combining that with Bug also hitting it super-effectively would probably be too drastic all at once.

Bug isn't that bad defensively, Ground resistance is nice, it's just that SR weakness that really fucks them over, but HDB helps to mitigate that problem
now offensively is fucking trash, hence why I specifically prefer simply reverting the Fairy effectiveness (and Fairy REALLY needs a nerf)

not all types should play the same, poison is a great type defensively so it still works even if its mediocre offensively (just like steel, but steel is even better defensively)

I'd compare Ice to Rock overall. Both are often put on slower, bulkier pokemon, and both of then hit 4 types super-effectively. Rock is resisted by 3 types while Ice is resisted by 4. Rock is weak to 5 while Ice is weak to 4, and Rock resits 4 while Ice resists 1.
From that perspective, bringing Ice's total resists to 2 or 3 makes plenty of sense.

Of the types that have been proposed, Grass is already resisted by 7 types, so putting Ice on that list might be overkill.. Flying and Water each have 3 types that resist them Ground is only resisted by 2 types, but has to worry about flying as an immunity. Dragon obviously only has Steel and Fairy to worry about, though also only hits Dragon effectively.
Anything outside of those feel like a stretch in terms of justifying a new resistance, aside from perhaps Normal to match it with Rock and Steel.

We really don't need to be scientifically strict with this shit, as proven by... a bunch of the other type matchups. It seems like it could make enough sense, Ice types are so cold that water freezes on contact with them.

They kinda stopped doing that. Every single ice type introduced in SV is offensive and has either amazing speed or speed control with moves (DD, Ice Shard) and/or abilities (Slush Rush).

The thing is that fast offensive ice types usually end up being broken.
