In fact, my consumption of Eastern media which features, above all else, Asian culture, and all of its quirks(He's Expecting, learning about wakashu, etc) seems to put a dent in your logic that I must be this horrible strawman.
Admittedly I don't watch modern Western media, though not out of being disgusted by what is portrayed in it, but rather complete indifference. They do not make good stories, nor even vaguely "ok" stories that just appeal to me, so I don't consume that media. It's as simple as that.
Instead, I am content with playing as little green men flying into space, or stranded on a distant world sometime in 5500 with an unspecified epoch, and a story about an adoptive demon is better than the biological parents.
