Shit doesnt even mega evolve in the same way, Ash has to act like a goddamn retard playing super saiyan to do it. You do realize the megas were revealed way the fuck before the anime caught up. When megas were revealed the anime was still wrapping up fucking gen 5 so its not crazy that they made Xzard as a last addition. I mean look at it, its the only mega that heavily takes away from its original design rather than Yzard which looks more like the only official mega evo of charizard. Fans have alot of sway anon.

I think the anime crew were told that the Kalos starters would get mega evolutions in XZ and YZ, so they felt safe just giving Ash the one mon, and then when they got silently canned the crew kinda panicked and did the fusion thing as a desperate replacement.
