Unironically agree. I'm not even a genwunner and I love these sprites. I feel like people only shit on them because they don't look like the finalized designs (that were made after the sprites) and some admittedly look a bit sillier than the finalized designs. Also pokemon fans just parrot whatever narrative is most popular online, and the meme that took off was that these sprites were "objectively bad" so that's all you'll see about them online. But I love this style personally, and they look especially nice with their super gameboy palettes.
