Why did they bother hyping her up as "La Primera"/the strongest in Paldea if she was gonna be so underwhelming?

Geeta wastes Glimmora but Diantha didn't get much mileage out of M-Gardevoir either, pretty sure it does not have a single move that makes use of Pixilate.
Underwhelming as she is, Geeta at least has some kind of presence and flair to her, Diantha is just encountered in the league.

Her design is pretty goofy, but I think Leon still has her beat. In retrospect, there are a lot of goofy-ass champions. Iris gets a pass because she is a child, even if that in and of itself is stupid. Wallace is… a belly dancer? Alder is dressed like a Native American stereotype wearing women’s sandals. And then of course Leon, who is wearing a cape and whatever his bizarre hat is supposed to be, clearly dyes either his hair or his beard, both of which are awful, and generally dresses like a 7 year old picking out clothing for the first time.

Maybe since the treasure hunt it's not strictly about battling, the scene in paldea is much less serious than in other regions, all gym leaders have second jobs. even the champion
