>>53056010I /am/ him, I was responding to myself to correct my mistake. My sole point was to give my thoughts on PLA in regards to the series at large. Anyone who buys into the “war” between PLA and SV is brain damaged and not worth factoring into the discussion.
>>53056016It really is the DLC for me; I definitely could be biased from the fact that I only experienced the definitive edition, but the legendary quests and DLC wild areas felt really nice and like the first glimmer of what I always imagined Pokemon could be. Granted PLA and SV both blew it out of the water in that regard, but it doesn’t change the fact that it was a fun experience. I was getting really tired in the stretch between XY and LGPE, SwSh restored my ability to have fun with the games, I thought there were some fun characters in there, a solid dex, and a fun enough campaign with some great DLC inclusion that made it really feel like exploration for the first time since Unova. I admittedly don’t go looking for nor do I factor in fan discourse to my own experiences, so I was a little shocked to see how brutally people tore the games apart. Aside from cutting the dex (which was always inevitable in my eyes, especially approaching 1000), I struggle to see how the common complaints of that game are exclusive to that game. Like if you think SwSh has bad graphics I’m struggling to believe that you can sincerely think PLA has good graphics, you get what I mean? Pokemon is a series that’s always plagued by the same issues and held back by the same arbitrary limitations, and within that frame I found SwSh to be the first game I wanted to consistently keep playing after I started since B2W2, and that feeling of fresh fun has oozed into both PLA and SV.
