>Dungeon Crawler (e.g. Wizardry, Bard's Tale)
>Life Sim (e.g. Animal Crossing, The Sims)
>Team Fighter (e.g. Marvel vs. Capcom, BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle)
>Rhythm Game (e.g. DDR, Guitar Hero)
>Dating Sim (e.g. Tokimeki Memorial, DDLC)
>Sidescrolling Shooter (e.g. Gradius, TwinBee)

I'm sure there are others that I missed, but you get the general idea.
