I know this is a coomer thread but reminder that Pokken is actually a good game and you should play it

>Roster It covers nearly every type and a variety of body shapes and popularity levels (shillmons like lucario, pika, zard; popular mons like Gardevoir, Blaziken, Garchomp; more niche favorites like Weavile, Chandelure, Scizor, etc)
>Characters are highly varied in terms of playstyles, both in the sense that two players can play the same character very differently, and that they have varied kits and mechanics (IE braixen and her support cancels/building tools, Aegislash's parry and stance changes and the extra just-frames and buffs you get the more you switch, etc)
>Great balancing, basically every single character is viable in high level play, even characters in low tier still make top 8's all the time
>Mechanics that encourage fundamentals and neutral play where both players are doing mindgames and are trying to get a hit in, such as attack heights functioning as a way for moves to bypass each other and act as reversals, and the 2d-3rd phase shift system causing a return to neutral after shifts and encouraging you to mix up your combo composition and move choices based on if shifting or staying in the current phase is more to your advantage
>Online is still decently active, community still runs tons of events, stuff is centralized around discord.gg/pokken and the supercombo page, no need to join like 12 different servers

I can also give a writeup more specifically aimed at existing fighting game players, but this does touch on some of that already.

My only issue with the game is burst mode and burst moves. They both seem explicitly made to cause upsets.

I had a shiny one hatch back during Y, and was surprised at how decent it was defensively.
Wish, Toxic, Protect, Fire Spin. Wasn't perfect, but when holding an Eviolite, it was a beast.

Well, here are the things that burst gives you
>Activation is invincible
>Activation pushes back opponents
>Activation leaves you + if your opponent is airborne when pushed back
>Light hit armor
>Incressed damage that stacks with rage (up to ~30%)
>Damage reduction that stacks with rage (up to ~40%)
>Faster movement speed
>Enhanced Moves (character dependant)

And Burst attacks are
>Invincible
>Not punishable on block
>Either have very large hitboxes or are unblockable
>On hit refund some meter
>Do like 50-40%

You actually missed something with burst, the activation wave that staggers the other player also resets your PSP guage if it causes the stagger.

The super info you typed up is also a bit overgeneralized: Not all of them are invincible (and it's not the entire active frame duration even when it is) or safe on block , and most can be punished in general with the right response (IE grabbing supers that have counter properties)

But yeah, they are pretty powerful tools. I wouldn't mind seeing them toned down but the only part of it I think for sure should/needs to be is the light hit armor.

Every burst move has at least 15 frames of full invincibility somewhere while active. And the ones on the lower end tend to have some frames of armor, Counter property, or good range.

I honestly think using a burst move should end the burst

I think that'd be a fair change, though as I said, I don't really hate how it works now aside from the light hit armor.

That, the lack of the PSP guage (which dictates when phase shift happens) in the UI, how safe so many of the counter attacks are, and the replay system being ass are really the only major things I for sure want to see changed in a sequel.

I'd also be open to more uses for meter (EX specials, that might also make burst rarer), making the 3d phase retain more of the combat complexity of the 2d phase (so rather then 3d being gundam vs, it's more like Tekken) and Pokemon Stadium style minigames that also teach fighting game concepts, it would be a good way to add some casual replay content/value and also teach people how to time and memorize combos, respond to mixups, reacting and punishing to moves, making reads, etc: The minigames already deal with precise timing, memorization, pattern recognition, etc

Well, magic DOES exist in the Pokemon world, and Delphox is basically capable of magical acts, including future-sight.
Also Rumble World's boss for the literal "Shrine of Magic" is Delphox.

That's a good question. I would imagine that the ABSOLUTE MINIMUM counts as sexual maturity and that no doubt would depend from species to species.
The problem is that the real minimum would be based on developmental maturity, but we have NO idea when that is in the Pokemon world.

You know that sexual maturity can be determined without violation, right? Actually, if anything, it'd probably be determined by just observing them in their natural habitat, and much of them would likely have been determined before the industrial revolution even ends thanks to academics recording all of the species.

I suppose it depends on the Pokemon, their base intelligence.
You'd have some which are smart enough to consent, and some which are not.
Ingame, pokemon evolve far quicker for gameplay reasons. Not only that, but compared to the rigorous, immensely battle focused life of a trainer, most Pokemon would take far longer to evolve.
It also raises the question of whether Pokemon are deliberately kept unevolved by their trainers, until they are mentally capable of handling the increased power given by a new form.
For example, evolving your Growlithe is only a matter of buying a certain rock and putting it on the little tyke.
But then, you have an physically enormous, tremendously powerful entity with the mental maturity of a toddler, or more precisely, a puppy, and the impulse control to boot.
It would be a genuine danger to both your life and others.

This could be solved by natural limits for each species when they can evolve. Even if they amassed enough "EXP" their evolution is still suppressed (eve if you use magical rocks) until they have matured enough at which point it takes place automatically and naturally. So like growing up but some steps a bit more abrupt.

I would say most of the 2nd step evolutions could be sign of sexual maturity for a lot of species (especially for those that only have 2 steps).

Personally, I think that the final stage would be sexual maturity, that is if it has 2 stages then the second stage, if its 3 than 3rd stage.
You have Pokemon like Metapod, Larvitar or Combusken, where it is clear that the second form is a transitionary stage from their complete final stage.
