USUM for extra scenes, comp and breeding
SM for better BGM arrangement and if you don't have hearing problems

but overall id just say play usum its the better version overall despite there not being much difference between the two, youll get a couple more hours out of usum so just play it

SM had a better story in my opinion, but USUM has so much cool extra stuff added that the slightly worse story doesn't matter to me, I'd recommend USUM

SM campaign is more enjoyable because it has a better story and is not (even more) bloated with pointless cutscenes and minigames.

Lusamine was completely butchered in USUM and other characters also feel weaker in their roles due to the ULTRA CHANGES. If you care about competitive (which being 2 gens behind I wouldn't) USUM is the better choice.

If not, play regular SM.
