I did something similar with a battle focused Facebook group. Only difference is that there was a leader for each type, 8 were singles and 8 were doubles. The "badges" were shiny versions of the leaders Ace. It was pretty fun, and some of the mono teams were legit. It all went to shit in the E4 though because the E4 leaders juat used 4-5 variations of their regular smogon teams, but everyone else was stuck using the same teams they used to battle the gym leaders. Also, 2 of the E4 did doubles and the other 2 did singles. So you were shit out of luck if you designed your singles team with no thought put into doubles strategies.
