That’s because vp’s only experience with competitive Pokémon is using CHARIZARD’s super saiyan special snowflake forms and perfect coverage to OHKO everything. When they encounter a good pokemon that’s balanced out by fair weaknesses and requires actual strategy to utilize, they don’t know what to do

Dondozo is an answer, not a threat.

It good because it beats boosting physical attackers. Anything trying to sweep with Bulk Up or Swords Dance is hard stopped. Even non-boosting physical mons like choice band users still struggle with it. If Phys Def Dondozo is taking a special hit, its probably because you've already lost and you're just letting your opponent sweep rather than forfeiting. In 6v6 you'll almost always be in a position to easily switch Dondozo into physical attackers, and out of special attackers. Switching is a bit costlier in other formats, but very free in 6v6.

Dondozo can even max its SpD to take decently strong special hits in an attempt to wall entire teams, its HP is so high its low SpD doesn't let it down. It's still a good set all its own, so medium-strength special attackers aren't an automatic solution to Dondozo either if you end up vs this set.

Or in general: People are slowly beginning to be creative just to deal with Dondozo or other mons they call 'broken'. Or they discover dangerously underrated shitmons like Rotom Mow. Yes, it's ineffective and it will be gone after some months. Let those people have fun.
