Yellow and Crystal aren't that much different but you have to use a shitty Pikachu early on in Yellow and in Crystal you don't get Ho-oh or Lugia before the E4.
Emerald has horrible balance, especially if you pick Torchic. Rayquaza is at level 70 and makes the E4 a joke. The Battle Frontier also sucks because the CPU matches your highest level Pokemon instead of making everyone level 50 (although this is better than in Ruby/Sapphire where you had to fight only level 50s or level 100s).
Platinum has worse graphics, especially Jubilife, Hearthome and the Battle Area which now looks like Jurassic Park for some reason. The Distortion World is dumb and pointless. The battle UI looks horrible. Sure the balance is a bit better and the speed was increased, but you could always turn off the animations in the Diamond and Pearl so the speed wasn't a problem. The Battle Frontier sucks because they removed the exploration found in Emerald and reduced the number of facilities. They also added MORE places that you need to use Defog for. The Battle Park was removed.
Black and White 2 have a worse story, dumb locations of legendaries, an illogical path through the region and the removal of the Cold Storage and Route 10. The UI looks worse. You also don't get the box legendary until after the E4.
