How is this boxart supposed to draw anyone's attention? Remove "Pokemon" from it and all that remains is a very bland picture.

That is one of the better boxarts. The forest backdrop with blue/green hues is easy on the eyes, and Xerneas is one of the better legendary designs. Gives away the fairy tale inspirations of the game.
