You can probably get to the lakeside very easily from the desert but getting to the False Dragon Titan without the using the bastard may be impossible. Your best bet may be clipping into the ground and hoping you travel far enough to unlock the fast travel point in the center of that island. I've gone OOB in a couple cave interiors but honestly I can't give you any reliable pointers on where to start with that.

Impossible. You literally cannot proceed into Area Zero without the lizard, which means you can't do the final boss fight (which ALSO requires the lizard and is unwinnable until you use it). Suck it up and play the game as it was intended.
