I've seen people on the Japanese Twitter side theorize about them being born from Paldea's nature making them as the metal/gold element to balance the other ones that's causing disasters, the treasures of ruin are sealed in different directions of Paldea while the Gimmighouls are scattered everywhere (similar to the stakes) those are fanfiction tier though
personally my problem with this is Chien-Pao being ice type, other pieces fit together too well with it being Chinese philosophy on Chinese legendaries and all
but to be fair they don't look exactly like the Four Perils either and the Water element is apparently also associated with the cold/winter. you have to stretch a bit but it's not like a fatal flaw
>>53076415it was born from passion that seeped into a coin, presumably coins that belonged in a chest. the thing I find interesting is them going out of their way to mention the years Gimmighouls were born (about 1500 years ago)
>>53076325the coins are no ordinary coins, they are specifically 'Gimmighoul coins' and dex entries describe them as old coins. the idea of them being born from those coins don't sound that far-fetched to me
wild stuff overall. I'll be keeping this theory in mind and research a bit more in case I find more about it
