To those of you who dislike/did not enjoy ORAS, were there any changes or improvements made in these games compared to the originals that you actually liked?

The Secret Bases were a massive improvement over the originals and really got the community active again, sharing QR codes and building Blissey teams for maximal EXP gains.

I was surprised to see there wasn't very much uproar about how BDSP outright removed secret bases considering what they could have done with them.

There's no real base customization or flag hunting, that's been replaced with statues you put in the room to affect wild spawns in the underground
While it's nice to be able to complete the national dex by just trading between the opposite versions, I can't say I wasn't hoping for bases like in ORAS

Feebas is infinitely easier to obtain instead of just in 1 random tile every day
Breeding is modernized as expected
You can get Deoxys and most Legendaries
You can’t accidentally softlock
Wally has a better team
The DexNav has gotten me several Shinies even without the Shiny Charm

I still probably prefer Emerald but these were all good quirks that keep me coming back to ORAS now and then

DexNAV was the best thing ever, it actually made completing the dex fun.
Music was hit or miss, I really like the original Hoenn tracks so some of them were kind of a downgrade to me.
I think the game looks really good, soaring is amazing, megas were cool. I played it before XY.
exp share is super unbalanced if you're training a team of 6 like regular and I don't think people realized me included you gotta trade out members to maintain any sort of balance.
By the elite four it was painfully easy, my mega mawile one shot most things.
Other than that, my main gripe is keeping the RS gym rosters and not upgrading or touching those up or even using the emerald rosters, kinda weird, and feels especially off with fights like Wattson (KAAAAAAANTOOOOOOOOOO) and Tate&Liza having only solrock and lunatone. in emerald that's one of the toughest fights
but overall I liked ORAS a lot

I know having 500 tree sprites was cheap back then, but it makes sense for the biome we are exploring, the remakes just use that invisible wall and add some trees around

DP had a GTS. BDSP doesn't and instead requires a separate app with a subscription service to use similar features. It's an objective downgrade and is absolutely a flaw. I bet you're retarded enough to actually subscribe to Home.

DP also has outdated mechanics, doesn't have wonder trade, doesn't have an easy was to Edit EVs, runs on Gen 4s engine, etc etc, which makes BDSP an objective upgrade. Using logic in only one direction isn't logic - it's bias.

New Megas, Dexnav and Gen 4-6 Pokemon were pretty good improvements. The combination of features from the originals (such as Secret Bases) combined with online play ended up being more than the sum of its parts. Every other good thing I have to say about the game is just lifted from the originals, or in the case of the online systems just lifted from XY.

Obviously there were a ton of problems with ORAS that you don't have to deal with if you just play the originals, but they've been beaten to death over the years. I don't hate ORAS but 10 years later Emerald is still the game I go back to

If they had done to ORAS what they did to HGSS (I.e. re-created most of the stuff from GS but integrated the unique parts of Crystal, namely the Suicune plot) and put some of Emerald’s content in, it would’ve been perfect.

Delta episode also sucked ass right up until the very end.

Enjoyed Dexnav, soaring and new megas and human designs. Also fully on par and compatible with XY without limited trading like LGFR. The game really made me realize how much better the level design was before Unova and Kalos.

shame they couldn't have both groudon and kyogre wake like in emerald, but instead of catching rayquaza, you catch the box legendary instead to separate them (the other one runs off with its tail between its legs until postgame)

But I liked Surskit obtainable early, the Secret Bases with QR codes, and Soaring was neat, although getting a Lati@s halfway through the game was absolutely retarded.
Also BDSP is dogshit.
