>>53081025I think it works because even though they are all essentially the same vague mammalian, they have distinct proportions and temperaments.
Cyndaquil (small round baby "shrew" who's scared of everything)
Quilava (sleek and nimble "weasel", who's willing to fight if necessarily)
Typhlosion (bulky "badger" with an explosive temper) .
Also there's the way its quills seem to go from being something they hide behind to avoid fights into something they use to signal their own aggression
>>53081016>>53081582It has to be trolling or malice at this point, Typhlosion special movepool is too barren for it to be accidental, its clearly being arbitrarily kneecapped. If I had to guess, one programmer at Game Freak seethed because the Legends Team picked Typhlosion instead of CHARIZARD for PLA. It isn't something like Slaking where they went a bit too far nerfing a possibly overpowered Pokémon, it isn't something like an Eeveelution where the idea is each Eeveelution focuses on one type to prevent from stepping on each others toes. It can't even be that Typhlosion being made in a time before powercreep because Game Freak goes back and fixes old Pokemon all the time. For fucks sake, nearly every other returning Pokemon in SV got new coverage (off their higher offensive stat) or some useful utility moves. Delphox got Nasty Plot despite already being minmaxed as fuck, and Cinderace got Swords Dance despite already being one of the most bullshit pokemon ever even before it got its special snowflake Protean rip off that doesn't even make sense for it. Meanwhile outside of Shadow Ball (which is but it doesn't really help cover Typhlosion's Weakness) it just got physical moves it can't properly use because game freak can't be bothered to give it boosting moves to go along with them.
