Serious question: where are the pedophiles?

The entire franchise, every single game, is based on children leading adventurous lives away from home because they have absentee fathers and mothers that pray to whatever deities exist that their kid gets lost on the way back home after going to play outside.

This setting should be ripe for adults looking to ravage and violate small children, statistically speaking, but not a single pedophile exists. I can only suspend my disbelief for so much--there should be at least a couple of rapists around. Child trafficking business should be booming. There should be hundreds of thousands of missing persons cases on an annual basis.

Speaking of rapists, where are the soldiers? Where are the guns? Where is the adult that gets challenged by an obnoxious group of kids and just straight up pulls a pistol and guns them down like some stray hoodlums that were trying to pick a fight after the guy just finished his 6-9 day job?

There are a lot of missing elements with this Pokemon stuff and I personally believe that the series suffers for it.
