Ability: Diamond Armor (reskin of Multiscale)
Base stats: 100/134/120/95/100/51
Dex entry: The hide of this Pokémon is even tougher than the Tyranitar from other regions. It unleashes psychic blasts from the crystals on its shoulders.
Basis: Diamonds + SpaceGodzilla
Cause of regional variant form: A diet of carbonous minerals as a Larvitar.

P.S. Regional variants make the most sense when it takes place in a relatively isolated area like with Alola.

While their numbers initially dwindled, the survivors eventually started to take the toxins into their bodies, using them against predators. Watchog that evolve from these Patrat are known to make shockingly bold entrances when looking for food, hoping to use the shock of a Watchog popping out of nowhere to cover their rather lacking escape speed.

Most regions are fairly insular if we exclude Kanto and Kalos.
That being said I think rock types could use more variation.
They basically absorb the minerals from their environment to grow their bodies.

So Onyx/Steelix, Golem, Tyranitar and Aggron should have regional variants that change up their types.

>by feeding on a large amount of damp rock crystals they gain water typing and maybe show external adaptations for aquatic life (Agron and Tyranitar going quadripedal crocodilian, Onyx/Steelix developing an eel-like Finn on their tails and longer narrower bodies), the crystal onyx could be a nice reference.
