I just picked Violet cause I like the Future Paradoxes more, especially the Shinies. Past Paradoxes don’t look as good and may have the ugly piss yellow color, so I don’t wanna hunt them.

I love the retarded puppybike, but electicbike is just better looking for normies. If both had been bike-bikes, Scarlet may have won but it was just outright gimped (though that's par for the course with the series).

None of the actual paradoxes between both versions are particularly popular either, besides Slither Wing and Iron Valiant, so the choice on them is almost a non-factor to the average consumer.

Every time someone claims that Miraidon has less animations or is "locked in" I immediately know to disregard their opinion. You didn't even bother looking at clips of how it actually moves and interacts during cutscenes, it does the same silly puppy/cat poses and silly faces as Koraidon throughout the entire game and actually looks more ridiculous (in a funny way) because you wouldn't expect a sophisticated cyborg looking creature to actually act like that, it's endearing.

I don't think people understand just how much something like this animation difference matters from a design perspective.
When playing Scarlet, your movement will always have a more distracting center of attention with the up and down motion. The same issue is magnified in Wyrdeer not dashing in PLA. Meanwhile, Miraidon's simpler movement animation is less distracting in a gameplay perspective, giving the player less visual distraction while running around.
I've played through both Scarlet and Violet over the winter with nothing to do and if I'm interested in shiny hunting, every time I will pick up Violet over Scarlet, unless it's for an exclusive. It's just easier to focus on what's happening around me when my bike isn't constantly jumping up and down.

There’s already been 2 Pokemon Reds before Scarlet, a lot of people have been waiting longer than the average poster has been alive for a Pokemon Purple, simple as that. It’s like if they announced Pokemon Pink and Pokemon Viridian, Pink would sell better because it’s been demanded forever whereas we’ve already gotten 2 Pokemon Greens.

I dunno, as someone who's also played both I don't really notice a difference, they both control early the same anyhows. Also that shiny hunting point is kinda moot because you're hardly, if ever, paying direct attention to your character. I Sandwich Hunted the Paradox mons in both and I didn't even really notice the differences in animation because my eyes were always a few feet off from my character either wy.

The other anon summed it up but I'll still give it a go since I'm the anon you're responding to. Y is the Red game of Gen 6, and it's Pearl not Platinum that's the red game of Gen 4, along with the fact that you're forgetting Gold and Sun (and their remakes/other versions). The reason I said there were already 2 Pokemon Reds is because nobody counts Ruby or Shield as a "Pokemon Red"; sure they have red boxart, but their actual name theme comes before their coloring. Every pair of games has a Red and a Blue, it's a series staple, but of the games where the name theme is color, 3 of them are red and 1 of them is purple, which i suspect is why Violet is the vastly preferred version. Pokemon games named after colors are a classic trend that comprise almost half the series, it makes sense that a repeat color would sell less than a brand new color. Ruby or Pearl had the advantage of being gemstones, but Scarlet is the just the third shade of red to have been a title, paired against Violet, the 25+ year long awaited Pokemon Purple. It's a no-brainer.
