Excluding things like Dusclops and Rhydon that got evolutions in the later gen, what lines are out there where your favorite is the middle evolution?

This guy. Retains the cute-ish head of Axew but more in proportion, has the cool tusks and far better colors than Haxorus who for some reason gets a weird olive green out of nowhere while it's head and neck get stretched and scrawny as if its face got shoved up a traffic cone.

Where did this idea of middle stages being lame come from anyways? A lot of them are my favorites in the line. Dewott, Grovyle, Metang, several of the ones posted in this thread are rad.
